I found this chapter to be focused on several key elements.
They were: Computer Folder, components of Files and Folders, Picture Library, Music
Library and USB flash drive. As in previous chapters it walks through various
features such as staked folders and cascading folders. It revealed different
ways to display properties in the Computer Folder and switching folders using
the address bar. It showed you how to establish new folders in both the Music
and Picture Libraries. The required activities at the end of the lesson delved
deeper into the Music and Picture Library which helped solidify the material. The
importance of backing up files and folders was emphasized very strongly with
scheduled backups. The chapter concludes with covering the USB flash drive and
Optical disc backup process. Chapter 3 was packed with all kinds of information
and diagrams which I found to be very helpful.

Working with the Windows 7 Desktop – Chapter 2
Chapter 2 began with explaining the importance of managing
resources, the desktop as well as being organized. The chapter then went
into covering a nifty tool called the WordPad. It described the process of
creating, saving, and printing a WordPad document. It took these fundamental
processes and applied them while learning about the document library. It reviewed the preview pane, creating folder
shortcuts, and modifying a document in a folder. This chapter delved deeper
into desktop gadgets.
Appendix B Windows 7 Security and features were also
reviewed. This section really peeled back the onion on Malware, Viruses, Worms
and Spyware. Part of the learning process was a hands on project walking you
through the various settings along with Windows Defender.
This chapter was very informative and provided a lot of
insight on how to protect your computer. It once again helped me better
understand Windows 7.

Fundamentals of Using Windows 7 - Chapter 1
This course and specifically chapter 1 could have not come
at better time, as I just upgraded to Windows 7 over the weekend. Chapter 1
starts at the very beginning with launching windows 7 and logging onto the computer.
Then proceeds to review the desktop and its essential parts and continues right
through to turning the computer off. It’s a hands-on approach with clear
diagrams and instruction so you can actually practice each step as you proceed.
It virtually goes screen by screen explaining each item i.e. start menu, scroll
bars, accessories folder, and much more. This method is structured so you can go at your
own pace.
Some of the key areas discussed are "The Desktop",
"Launching a Program", and “Using Windows Help and Support".
Each one of the key areas was broken down with specific topics such as Recycle
bin, resizing a window, getting started with Windows, and the list goes on with
many more topics. Some of the topics that I found very helpful were in the
gadget section particularly the snip tool, also being able to pin icons to the
task bar so easily, and the help section which will guide you to the
information you’re seeking.
I found chapter 1 to be the foundation for getting started
with Windows 7. It is very user friendly with an excellent on line support system.
